Whether you are a natural redhead, or you have just dyed your hair a dark red hair color now, there are some makeup basics that you may need to consider. If you have changed your color completely, you may need to invest in buying new makeup that matches the new-look you.
If you are not sure what makeup would best suit, one tip that I have always found helpful is to check out fashion magazines or hair style magazines, to see what other redheads are wearing. I always come away from those magazines full of ideas of what I think would look best on me.
Let’s start at the beginning with foundation. You should set aside any pink or red based foundations for now, as they are only going to clash with your hair. Instead look for a foundation that has a gold or peach base. A yellow based foundation would probably also work. Remember, if you have fair skin buy a light colored foundation, if you have dark skin buy a darker base foundation.
Next, we will discuss the eye section. One point that is often overlooked when dyeing hair is the color of the eyebrows. If you went from brunette to strawberry blond, you may need to dye your eyebrows and lighten them up. As far as what colored eye-shadow to wear, think earth colors-browns, golds, sometimes green can look great and even a deep plum color. You do want to avoid pinks or blues, as they will not look that great.
Buy your lipstick and blush at the same time, so you can get matching colors. Again, the gold or brown shades are good, even the gold-red. What you do want to avoid is anything red or pink. Once you have your lipstick, try to find a blush that is the same tone and color.
If you stick with similar shades and colors, and avoid the reds, pinks and blues for eye-shadow, you should not have any problem coming up with a great new look that matches your red hair color.
